Dr Robert Fenz studied civil engineering at the Vienna University of Technology. He is a staff member at the Institute of Water Quality and Resource Management at the Vienna University of Technology. Since 2006, he has been the Head of Division “National and International Water Management” of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Regions and Water Management in Vienna, Austria
In the field of water management, the ministry is responsible for managing river basins and flood risk, improving the ecological status of water bodies and promoting the sustainable use of water resources. The tasks also include the coordination of transboundary water issues within the framework of bilateral and multilateral water commissions, in particular the Danube Protection Commission and the Rhine Protection Commission. Main area of my responsibility is the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive
